CrateCodex

Privacy policy

What CrateCodex collects, how consent-based Google Analytics 4 works here, how the optional email form works, and how outbound marketplace links are handled.

CrateCodex is a static reference site that collects as little as possible. This page explains what that means in practice, as of 9 October 2026.

What we collect

Very little. We do not run accounts, and we do not ask for personal information to read the site. If you submit the optional email form for case-file updates, we store only the address you give us and use it only to send those updates; you can unsubscribe at any time.

Analytics and cookies

To see which case files are useful, CrateCodex uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. It measures pages viewed, the referring site, approximate location (city or country), device and browser type, and session timing. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation are disabled, so the data is not used for advertising, and we do not sell or share personal data.

GA4 relies on two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to two years and are set only after analytics has been allowed. Our own pages set no advertising cookies.

Consent depends on where you are. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked first through a banner, and nothing is sent to Google unless they click Accept. Visitors elsewhere have analytics on by default and can switch it off at any time, and a browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as opted out. The choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key analytics-consent rather than in a cookie.

You can change your analytics choice at any time. Google's privacy policy covers its own processing, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on is available for most browsers.

When you follow a /go/ link to a marketplace, that third party may set its own cookies and apply its own privacy policy, which we do not control. We never link to scams.
